Happy New Year!

I hit my head two weekends ago (hard) and got a concussion. This hit forced me to rest for days. I couldn’t, even if I wanted to, edit any photos or check emails. I was on a forced shut-down so I slept early on most days. There was pain radiating from various parts of my brain and taking shifts between my neck and shoulders. Scary pain… the kind that had me praying sporadically throughout the day. Last night, I fell asleep around 930pm. Then like Jerry McGuire, I woke up out of my sleep around midnight with my mind racing and this need to write a huge blog post (a mission statement) about what I was or wasn’t going to do the coming year… what went right and what didn’t the past four years. In my mind, the blog post was brilliant but I only recited it in my mind, I didn’t write anything down. Bummer.

What I can say…is I needed that. The much abandoned rest, the mental shut-down. The time to really think about 2013 and what I look forward to the coming year.

My highlights for 2013:

  • finding a home closer to the beach
  • spending time with my family in Oregon
  • witnessing my sister marry her best friend
  • clients who turned into lifelong friends
  • Kaili’s first singing solo
  • starting a new career
  • sunsets
  • girl scouts
  • discovering vitamin b12 :)
  • Max, the cat

I love quotes. Something so simple and profound in two sentences can pull together all your rambling thoughts. So my quotes for 2014:

“You will either step forward into growth or you will step back into safety.”
~Abraham Maslow

“The greatest joys of life are happy memories. Your job is to create as many of them as possible.”
~Brian Tracy

I wish you all a Happy New Year! May you move forward and build many happy memories.

Little Low's Cookies with Santa

Every year, I participate in a fundraising event to raise money for Down Syndrome. This year, enough money was raised to open the first Down Syndrome Center in Southern California at Rady's Children's Hospital. To watch how this family has done this each year is simply amazing. Here are just a few quick snaps of Little Low playing in the "snow".
